Barbara's Publishing Company

In October, 2006, Barbara and Ginny Greene, inspired by Dusty Richards, decided they could put together a group to edit an anthology. During the course of the conversation, standing in the serving line at the Abilene Writers Guild annual workshop and luncheon, they came up with two possible names: Silver Boomers and Freckles to Wrinkles. Not being able to make either a subtitle of the other, they recruited other members of the editorial team (Karen Greene and Becky Haigler) and put out calls for submission for two anthologies. A year later, Silver Boomers – a collection of prose and poetry by and about baby boomers was ready for publication. In an effort to produce a product exactly as we envisioned it, we became not only editors but publishers: Silver Boomer Books was born. Freckles to Wrinkles followed.

January 1, 2011, Barbara retired from the bench, having served as judge of County Court at Law No. 2 of Taylor County, Texas, twenty-two years and nine months. While she retired from the bench, she actually simply changed jobs one last time. She established the first physical office for Silver Boomer Books at Commerce Plaza, 1290 S. Willis, Suite 210, Abilene, Texas. There she settled in to add to the thirteen books Silver Boomer Books and their imprints Laughing Cactus Press and Eagle Wings Press had published during the first three years of publishing. Come on in to see her, or buy the great books - the initial thirteen or the dozens to come.
